Panda-monium! Giant Pandas at Play in Snow
What’s black and white and white all over? A panda in powder!
It’s a panda on stilts! Famed wildlife photographer Steve Bloom spent a week in China’s Wolong National Nature Reserve, moving among the pandas, who get to roam free near the Sichuan mountains.
EYES OF A PANDA
“The thing about pandas is the eyes,” Bloom tells PEOPLEPets.com. “They are surrounded by black, so from a photographic point of view, it’s quite hard to get any detail into the eyes.”
BEAR IN MIND …
It’s important to remember that pandas are bears, Bloom says. “They look cute and that makes us want to go up and cuddle them, [but] they are not to be messed with.”
BIG BEAR HUG
Blooms says it was enchanting to see the mother bears with their cubs, and this photo serves his mission: “It’s important to get a picture to connect with people and make them aware of how important it is to protect these animals’ habitats.”
GIANT BAMBOO, MEET GIANT PANDA
The most memorable part of photographing the pandas? For Bloom, it was seeing “those mountains and to see a panda against these incredible landscapes.”Click here to read more about Steve Bloom’s animal photography.
