Five weeks after their arrival, the Oregon Zoo’s lion cubs are starting to form sisterly bonds, enjoying some requisite roughhousing and palling around. But there’s another milestone the trio is also about to hit: being named.
Currently, each cub is referred to by a number, but the zoo is inviting fans to weigh in on what the three will be called. Each cub has two possible name options voters can choose between, as well as a small bio presented on the zoo’s website to help make an informed choice. Voting ends on Oct. 23, and the winning names will be announced a day later.
“We’re starting to see their personalities,” said Laura Weiner, senior keeper for the zoo’s Africa section. “It’s time to give them names that match.”
