Andy Roddick surprised tennis fans when he announced that this year’s U.S. Open would be his last and that he plans to retire from the sport professionally.

Though the news saddened some, it left others happy: namely, his bulldog Billie Jean.

“I know one person who’s really excited about Andy Roddick’s announcement,” Roddick’s wife, Brooklyn Decker, Tweeted on Friday, posting a smiling photo of their family pet.

The sentiment echoes comments Roddick made a day earlier, which was also his 30th birthday, at a press conference with reporters.

“I won’t be a deadbeat dad anymore,” he joked of the upside to retiring.
